Frequently asked questions

If your question is not here, email us at hello@anchoredtime.com.

Devotional

Can I save a devotional to my journal?

Yes. Once your devotional finishes loading, tap Save to journal below the devotional. The full devotional - including the opening reflection, Going Deeper section, PurStrAction application block, and closing prayer - is saved as a journal entry with the passage as its title. If you tap Save on the same devotional more than once, only one entry is created. The saved entry appears on your journal page and can be searched, tagged, and linked just like any other journal entry.

Where do my saved devotionals go? Can I see them again?

Every devotional you generate is automatically saved to your personal library. Tap My Devotionals (available in the More menu or from the devotional view) to see all your saved devotionals, sorted newest first. Each one opens the full 16-section view with the Short/Full toggle, exactly as it looked when you first read it.

Can I export a devotional to PDF?

Yes. Open any saved devotional in My Devotionals and tap Export PDF. This opens your browser's print dialog - choose Save as PDF as the destination. The print layout hides all app chrome and renders a clean, full devotional with the citation at the bottom. No account data leaves your device - the PDF is generated entirely in your browser.

Getting Started

Can I install AnchoredTime on my phone or computer?

Yes. AnchoredTime is a Progressive Web App, which means it installs directly from your browser with no app store required. On desktop (Chrome, Edge, Brave) you will see an Install app button in the top bar once your browser is ready. On Android, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen. On iPhone or iPad you must use Safari: tap the Share button (the box with an arrow pointing up) and choose Add to Home Screen. Installing gives you a dedicated icon on your home screen or taskbar, faster load times, and offline access to content you have already viewed. If you dismiss the prompt it will reappear after 30 days. See the full install guide.

How does universal search work?

Tap the search icon in the top bar of any app screen to open the search page. Type a word or phrase and results appear automatically - no button to press. Search covers your journal entries, prayer requests, Bible study blocks, and coaching foundation, all scoped to your account only. Results group by type so you can see at a glance whether a match came from your journal or your prayer list. Each result links directly to the source record. Read more.

What is the PurStrAction intake?

The PurStrAction intake is an 8-step conversation that walks you through your Calling, Mission, one-year and five-year Vision, and current Season. From your answers, the AI Coach proposes Purposes (your WHY), Strategies (your HOW), and Actions (your WHAT). You review and edit everything before confirming. Any Action can be promoted to a daily Anchor so it shows up on your Today screen every day. The intake takes about 10 minutes and you can pick up where you left off any time. Read more.

What is the End-in-Mind reflection that appears after my first week?

After your first seven days, AnchoredTime shows a one-time reflection card on your daily screen. It asks: if the people you love most were reading what was written about your life, what three sentences would you want them to read? You write freely, save it, and the prompt disappears. The idea draws on Stephen Covey’s second habit, anchored in 2 Timothy 4:7 - Paul finishing the race he ran with faith intact. Your response stays private and is never used by the AI coach. Read more.

What is the free Faithful Action generator at /free?

Tell us where you are stuck in your walk with Jesus this week. We will send you back one Faithful Action plus a Scripture reference from the World English Bible (public domain). No credit card, no spam. Try it at /free and decide whether AnchoredTime is for you.

What does the persona setting do?

Persona lets you tell the AI Coach which life-season lens fits you best. Choose AnchorDad and the Coach frames answers around leading your home, providing for your family, and the day-in-day-out weight of fatherhood. Choose AnchorMom and it leans into household rhythm, nurturing faith in your children, and the gentle strength that holds a family together. Choose AnchorTeens and it speaks to identity formation, school, friendships, and the question of what God is calling you to in this season. Leave it on none if you prefer the default Christ-centered voice. Every time the Coach responds and every Faithful Action it suggests will use the lens you picked. You can change it any time in your Foundation. Edit your Foundation.

What do PURPOSE, STRATEGY, and ACTION mean during sign-up?

When you first set up your account, the setup wizard groups its steps under three column labels: PURPOSE, STRATEGY, and ACTION. These are the three layers of the PurStrAction™ framework AnchoredTime runs on. PURPOSE covers who you are and what matters to you. STRATEGY covers which Anchors to set and the season you are in. ACTION is where you define your first daily step. See /framework for the full PurStrAction™ explanation.

Launch

When is AnchoredTime launching?

We are in a controlled pre-launch period right now. A small group of early users can already access the full app. We will open publicly once the core daily loop, Anchored Reset, and the Bible Workbench are polished and stable. If you have signed up, you are on the list and will be invited as soon as we flip the switch.

Pricing

Is there a free tier?

Yes. The Seedling tier is free forever. You get the full daily core: Anchors, Prayer, Journal, Scripture, Anchored Reset. The free tier also includes a 60 minute Whisper voice transcription trial during your first 7 days, so you can try voice journaling.

How do paid tiers work?

Paid tiers (Anchored, Covenant) unlock the AI features: AI-suggested Faithful Actions, Smart Recall of past entries, AI weekly summaries, automatic pillar tagging, drift detection, and the Faithful Wheel of Life. Each tier includes a monthly platform AI budget. The full Anchored Coach (saved conversations and coaching styles) is part of Covenant; Seedling and Anchored get 10 free coach messages to try it. See pricing for details.

What is Cornerstone?

Cornerstone is a one-time lifetime tier capped at 150 seats. It includes every current feature plus the Quarterly Review and Faithful Wheel, forever. Cornerstone exists for people who want to anchor in early and carry the project alongside us.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel at any point from Settings. No questions asked.

Live Voice Coach

How do live voice coach minutes work?

Each plan includes a set number of live voice coach minutes per month: a one-time 1-minute taste on Seedling (free), 5 minutes a month on Anchored, and 15 minutes a month on Covenant and Cornerstone. Minutes reset at the start of each calendar month. You can see exactly how many minutes you have left in Settings under Usage. Bring your own AI access (BYOK) to talk without any minute cap on any plan.

Where can I see my remaining voice minutes?

Open Settings and look for the Live voice coach minutes card in the Usage section. It shows how many minutes you have left this month, a usage bar, and a list of your recent sessions. The balance updates after each conversation settles (usually within a few seconds of ending the call).

What if I need more voice minutes than my plan includes?

The fastest way to get more minutes is to upgrade your plan. Covenant includes 15 minutes a month and Cornerstone is the lifetime equivalent. Bring your own AI access (Settings - AI Keys) to talk with the coach without any minute limit on any plan. Buyable minute packs are coming in a future update.

Bring Your Own Key

What is BYOK?

Bring Your Own Key. Every AI feature in AnchoredTime can be powered by your own OpenAI or Anthropic key instead of our platform budget. If you already have those accounts, you can use AnchoredTime without paying us for AI usage. Add your keys in Settings.

Are my BYOK keys secure?

Yes. Your keys are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM with a master key held outside the database. We never display the raw key after you save it. Only a fingerprint (like sk-ant-...F0Ji) is shown in the UI.

What happens if my BYOK key fails?

If your key gets rejected by the provider, AnchoredTime soft-revokes it immediately and surfaces a friendly error to you. We do not silently fall back to charging our platform budget. Your AI feature stops until you fix the key.

How Anchors work

What exactly IS an Anchor?

An Anchor is your own focal point for this season - any goal Jesus has your attention on right now. You set up to 5 at a time because focus is the discipline. Each anchor maps to one of the three pillars: Faith (Devotion, Formation, Mission), Stewardship (Health, Wealth, Influence), or Legacy (Family, Core6, Community). The sub-domain is optional - your Coach helps break the anchor into daily Faithful Actions. Real examples: “Talk with Jesus,” “Seeding and Building Anchorful,” “Presence with Family,” “2 bands, 1 rule” (a workout anchor). Anchors shift by season.

What is PurStrAction?

PurStrAction™ is the framework AnchoredTime runs on. Purpose means knowing why an Anchor matters this season. Strategy is the path you have chosen to move toward it. Action is the daily Faithful Action: the smallest doable step that keeps the anchor alive. The three pillars are Faith (Devotion, Formation, Mission), Stewardship (Health, Wealth, Influence), and Legacy (Family, Core6, Community). It is a Christian-worldview take on goals, dreams, and vision for life. Not a habit tracker. Not a productivity app. The 5-Anchor cap forces real focus.

How does an Anchor work -- what are Purpose, Strategy, and Faithful Actions?

Every Anchor runs on three layers. Purpose is the why: what does this Anchor mean for your walk with Jesus right now? Strategy is the how: the path you have chosen to move toward that purpose this season. Faithful Actionsare the daily steps: the small doable actions that keep the anchor alive day by day. Any faithful action counts. Tap any Anchor to see its full Purpose, Strategy, and Faithful Action list, mark actions done, and add new steps. This is the PurStrAction™ framework in practice.

Why no more than 5 Anchors?

Focus. Habit trackers fail because they let you add 30 items and feel busy without progress. AnchoredTime caps daily focus at 5 Anchors so you actually integrate the actions, see real movement, and let one Anchor finish or rotate out before another comes in. The 5 are yours - any goal Jesus has your attention on. Shift by season.

Mobile vs Desktop

Does Anchored Reset work on desktop?

Yes, partially. The breath circle, audio engine (gamma synthesis, binaural beats), and session flow all work in the browser. What does not work on desktop is the body-placement feedback layer that uses your phone’s motion sensor. For full Anchored Reset you want to use it on mobile.

Why install AnchoredTime as a PWA?

Installing as a Progressive Web App on iPhone or Android gives you the DeviceMotion accelerometer for belly-breath coaching, push notifications for daily anchor reminders, and offline support so you can journal without signal. On iOS use Safari and tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.

Does voice journaling work on every device?

Voice recording uses the browser MediaRecorder API. It works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. iOS Safari requires the page be served over HTTPS and you grant microphone permission on first use.

Data and Privacy

Where is my data stored?

Your prayers, journal entries, scripture interactions, and voice transcripts are stored in our Supabase Postgres database (US East, encrypted at rest, RLS-protected so only you can read your own data). Voice audio files are stored in Supabase Storage with the same protections.

Who can see my entries?

You. That is the full list. Row-level security at the database layer means even our admin dashboard cannot read the content of your prayer and journal entries. Aggregate metrics (counts, dates) are visible to admins for cost monitoring; private content is not.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Go to Settings and tap Export data. AnchoredTime packages your prayers, journal entries, daily anchors, Bible study sessions, and foundation into a zip of Obsidian-compatible Markdown files - one file per entry, with YAML frontmatter. Open the zip in Obsidian, Notion, or any text editor. Exports are limited to 5 per day. Learn more.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Settings includes account deletion. We hard-delete your BYOK keys, anonymize your usage ledger rows (so financial records remain accurate but contain no personal identifier), and remove your auth record. Done within seconds.

Do you use my data to train AI?

No. AnchoredTime never uses your prayers, journal entries, or any personal content to train AI models. Anthropic and OpenAI each have their own policies for API-submitted data; per their public policies, API content is not used for training. We pass your content to them for the specific feature you invoked, then discard it.

What analytics do you collect?

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how people move through the app. The events we track are: account created, onboarding finished, foundation complete, first Minimum Faithful Dose, first anchor marked complete, subscription upgraded, and subscription canceled. Each event includes only your account ID - no email address, display name, or IP is ever attached. No personal content (prayers, journal entries, Scripture interactions) is included in analytics. Page views are collected anonymously by Vercel with no cookie or fingerprint. You can read Vercel’s privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Theology

Is AnchoredTime a replacement for the Church?

No, and please do not treat it as one. AnchoredTime is a daily companion for your walk with Jesus, every day, including Sunday. The Church is the body of Christ. AnchoredTime is a tool to help you live as a member of that body day by day, anchored in Scripture, prayer, and the rhythms of formation.

What translations of Scripture do you support?

The default is the New Living Translation (NLT). Inside the Bible Workbench, the translation switcher lets you pick from all available translations in one tap. Currently enabled: NLT, CSB, NIV, KJV, ASV, and WEB. ESV, NASB95, AMP, and LSB are shown in the switcher but grayed out with an upgrade note - they will unlock when we move to the API.Bible commercial tier. Your preferred translation is saved to your profile and used by the Anchored Coach when quoting Scripture.

Are you tied to a specific denomination?

We are unapologetically Christian and centered on a daily walk with Jesus. We are not tied to a single denomination. AnchoredTime helps you anchor your day around Jesus, your goals, and your mission across all three pillars of life: Faith, Stewardship, and Legacy. The founder is non-denominational evangelical. The app works for any Christian who wants to live every day with Jesus at the center.

What about pastors and ministry leaders?

Pastor and ministry leader pricing is on the roadmap, including a small-group format for churches with content-creation tools so leaders can run cohorts inside the app. This will be part of Anchorful Communities (Circle.so), where AnchorDads, AnchorMoms, and future spaces gather around shared formation. If you serve in ministry and want early access, email us at hello@anchoredtime.com.

New Features

What is PurStrAction and where can I learn more?

PurStrAction™ is the framework AnchoredTime runs on. Purpose anchors why an Anchor exists. Strategy names the path to get there. Action is the daily step that keeps you moving. The ACT•ION™ loop (Assess, Clarify, Trust-to-Transform, Integrate, Overcome, Never-cease) keeps that action alive when life gets hard. See /framework for the full canon page.

How does the Anchored Coach work?

The Anchored Coach is an AI guide rooted in Scripture and the historic Christian faith. It walks with you through the day using PurStrAction™ and ACT•ION™. You can voice or type what you are carrying, and it responds from your foundation context: your pillars, current Anchors, and anything you have shared with it. The Coach does not replace prayer or Scripture. It helps you think clearly about where Jesus is calling you. The full Coach (with saved conversations and coaching styles) is part of the Covenant tier; on Seedling and Anchored you get 10 free messages to try it before upgrading. Start at /coach.

What is my Foundation and why does it matter?

Your Foundation is a short context record that tells your Anchored Coach who it is walking with: your current season, your mission, life context, the pillars Jesus has you focused on, and your daily Anchors. Without it, the Coach gives generic responses. With it, every conversation is grounded in your actual life and season. You can edit any field inline at /foundation. Each field saves immediately on click - no page reload needed.

What are the Foundation personas (AnchorDad, AnchorMom, AnchorTeens)?

Personas let you tag your Foundation with a life-stage lens. Select AnchorDad, AnchorMom, or AnchorTeens if that reflects your season, or leave it blank for a general foundation. Your coach uses the persona to frame guidance in a way that fits your specific role - AnchorDad for fathers leading their families, AnchorMom for mothers anchoring their households, AnchorTeens for younger followers of Jesus navigating their early years. You can change or clear it any time at /foundation.

What is the Bible Workbench?

The Bible Workbench is a three-pane Scripture surface. Read the passage, highlight and annotate, and cross-reference without leaving the app. It is the starting point for both Bible Study sessions and Devotional generation. Open it at /scripture.

What is Grounded Response and how does it work in the notes pane?

Grounded Response is the reading method built into the Bible Workbench notes pane. The idea is simple: you hear from God first, then you consult outside sources. It has two note types.

Personal Reflection (P-R:) - Type P-R: at the start of any line to open a Personal Reflection block. Write your immediate, unfiltered response to the passage before you read any commentary or cross-reference. This protects the space where God speaks to you directly.

Helpful Notes (H-N:) - Type H-N: at the start of any line to open a Helpful Notes block. This is where you put context from outside sources - cross-references, footnotes, commentary, historical background. It always follows your Personal Reflection, never precedes it.

Notes save automatically five seconds after you stop typing. You can switch to Preview mode at any time to see your notes rendered with the amber and teal block styling.

Do my Bible Workbench notes show up in my journal?

Personal Reflection (P-R:) blocks do. When you save a Personal Reflection in the Bible Workbench, an entry is automatically created in your Journal within seconds, tagged with the passage reference and marked as coming from a Bible study. You will see a small badge on the card that links back to the passage in the Workbench.

Helpful Notes (H-N:) do not appear in your journal. They are study reference material - commentary, cross-references, background context - and belong in the Workbench where you can revisit them alongside the passage. Only your personal response to Scripture flows into the daily journal record.

Why does the Bible Workbench limit passages to 25 verses?

The Bible API we use (API.Bible) is licensed under terms that cap displayed passages at 2 chapters or 25 verses per request. This is a condition of the agreement that gives us access to modern translations like the NLT. If you request a larger range, the Workbench will ask you to narrow it. Classic single-chapter passages like Psalm 119 are always available in full. Passages are also cached for up to 30 days so repeated reads do not count against the API quota.

What is a Bible Study session?

A Bible Study session walks you through four movements on any passage you choose: Observation (what does it say?), Interpretation (what does it mean?), Application (what does it mean for me?), and Prayer (what do I bring to God from this?). The OIAP pattern is a historic study method. AnchoredTime guides you through it and saves your notes. Start one at /scripture/study.

What is the Devotional generator?

Pick any passage and AnchoredTime generates a short, personalized devotional: a reflection paragraph, a key truth to carry, and a closing prayer prompt. It is not a replacement for reading Scripture yourself. It is a way to go deeper when a passage lands on you and you want to sit with it. Access it at /scripture/devotional.

What is a Bible reading plan and how do I start one?

A reading plan is a day-by-day schedule that walks you through a book, theme, or section of Scripture over a set number of days. AnchoredTime shows today’s passage right on your daily screen so you never have to hunt for where you left off. Tap “Open” to read it in the Bible Workbench. Tap the circle to mark it done. Pick a plan at /bible/plans.

What is a Bible study plan and how is it different from a reading plan?

A reading plan gives you a daily passage to read and track. A study plan goes deeper: each day pairs a passage with guided study questions that move you from observation to interpretation to personal application. Reading plans are great for broad coverage; study plans are for slowing down and going deep on a book or topic. Browse and enroll at /bible/study-plans.

Can I create my own Bible reading plan on a topic I care about?

Yes, on Covenant (or with your own Anthropic key). Open /bible/plans and tap Generate. Enter a theme - anxiety, the Gospels, faith in the dark, whatever you are walking through - choose how many days (7 to 90), and pick a translation. The Anchored Coach builds a day-by-day plan with real Scripture passages. Review it, tap Start this plan, and it enrolls immediately. Your custom plans appear alongside the curated library on the same page.

What is the Faithful Wheel on the daily screen?

The Faithful Wheel is a compact 9-segment donut on your daily screen. Each segment represents one of the nine Anchorful sub-domains (3 Faith, 3 Stewardship, 3 Legacy). A lit segment means you have had at least one activity in that sub-domain this week. The wheel gives you a quick read on where you are walking with Jesus broadly, not just in your top 5 Anchors. The full interactive version is available in your Weekly Review.

Account

Can I share an account with my spouse?

Each person should have their own account so journals and prayers stay private. Family pricing is on the roadmap to make this affordable for households.

How do I reset my password?

Click Forgot password on the sign-in page. We send a secure reset link to your email.
