What are Faithful Actions?
Last updated 2026-06-10
A Faithful Action is the smallest step you can take today to keep an anchor alive - given your actual day. Not the ideal version. Not the maximum. The one that is genuinely doable in the time and energy you have right now.
The idea behind it
Most tools show you the full ideal and let you feel behind. AnchoredTime starts from the other end: what is the one faithful thing available right now?
If you have ten minutes before school drop-off, your Faithful Action is not a 45-minute Bible study. It might be one Psalm and a two-minute prayer. If it has been a hard week and your anchor completion has dropped, the right Faithful Action is not “get back to your full rhythm.” It might be one sentence of honesty with God before you sleep.
The theology underneath this is simple: faithfulness is not measured by volume. God does not need your performance. He wants your presence. A Faithful Action is the smallest version of presence you can offer in this moment, and that is enough to keep the thread.
How it works in the app
On Anchored tier and above, a suggested Faithful Action appears at the top of your daily view. The AI looks at:
- Which anchors you have completed today and which remain
- How much time is likely left in your current part of the day
- Which pillars have been quiet recently
- Your journal and prayer activity over the past week
From that context, it surfaces one suggestion. Not a list of five. One. A single clear next step is more useful than a menu of options when you are already stretched.
The suggestion might be an anchor you have not completed yet, a prayer prompt, a short Scripture passage, or an Anchored Reset session. It is always tied to a pillar and always small enough to actually do.
What tiers include it
AI-suggested Faithful Actions are available on Anchored ($30/mo) and all higher tiers, including Cornerstone lifetime. The Seedling free tier does not include AI-generated suggestions, but the concept still applies: your daily view shows your remaining anchors, and the smallest one is always available to complete.
See Billing, tiers, and upgrades for the full comparison of what each tier includes.
Using your own AI key
If you bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic key via BYOK, the MFD feature runs through your key instead of the platform AI budget. The recommendations are the same quality. You are simply not paying AnchoredTime for the AI usage on top of your subscription.
See Bringing your own AI keys (BYOK) for setup instructions.
A note on streaks
AnchoredTime does not show streaks. Streaks turn faithfulness into a performance metric. When you miss a day, a streak counter tells you that you failed. Faithful Actions do the opposite: they start from where you are and offer the next step forward, without accounting for what you missed.
The Faithful Wheel of Life shows you the real picture over time, across all nine pillars, without the guilt framing. Faithful Actions keep you moving in the present. Both are designed to serve your walk with Christ, not to measure your performance for it.
